A little later that usual due to a scheduling conflict...
Jim & I will be there at 2:30 to setup, so please get there early so you can be ready to play at 3 pm. The plan will be to finish promptly at 6 pm.
Just want to post a few reminders and suggestions to help our jam to continue to run smooth:
1. There is a small kitchenette that we can use at the Meeting house, so if you desire softdrinks, food or snacks please feel free to bring some along, but we typically do not provide these items. Additionally, the Friends Meeting does not allow alcoholic beverages on the property...
2. Please allow enough time for travel to get to the Meeting house just before 3:00 pm to setup. Jim and I will likely be there a bit earlier should you find yourself arriving a little before, so not to worry... We plan on finishing up around 6:00 pm.
3. Please do not forget to bring your copy of the song set list that we finalized in June 2010. It can be found at the following link: http://www.meetup.com...
Also, please bring 1-2 new songs that you wish the group to play, with enough copies for all attendees. This is really important; we need to ensure that we have enough music to cover the entire jam.... You will need a music & guitar stand for your use too.
When considering song choices please keep the level of difficulty in mind so that all attendees can participate. At times, some of the selections were beyond the skills of even some of our more proficient players. Not that an occasional tough one isn't a welcome challenge, but the easy songs flow better with the entire group. Of Course, we will always open up the floor to anyone that wants to do a solo for the group…
It's always easier for everyone in the group if you could take the time to write out the chords over the entire song rather than just a portion of the verse and chorus. This approach will minimize the struggle that many experienced by attempting to play a song for the first time while trying to simultaneously decipher the chord progression throughout the balance of the song.
4. Finally, if you would kindly RSVP either way so that we will know who to expect, it would be much appreciated - thanks!
Keeping ALL of these points in mind has gone a long way in assuring successful jams to date.
Hope to see many of you at the jam!
