I know it's been a while since our last meeting, but I stumbled upon the video archive of Ruth Ozeki's UW presentation here ("Program News" on the right side of the page):

Would highly recommend it if you're still thinking about the book! :-)

Sorry I missed the discussion yesterday. I came down with a bad cold and thought it would be best to sit it out.

I'm feeling much better and wish I could make the social event next week but I have a crippling fear of heights and a super busy schedule at work next week.

I am extremely sorry I could not make it to yesterday's discussion, I tripped off the stairs and broke a tooth on Saturday, had to seek some urgent medical care. Will definitely come for the next one.

Just curious how the waiting list works? I signed up & read the Ozeki book (loved it!), but was on the waiting list for three weeks, nothing happened. Now I see the next meeting is also waitlist only, already. Are the numbers limited to keep the group a manageable size?

Hi! Our biggest challenge is seating, which is the reason for the attendance cap and the waitlist. It's also hard to hear everyone once the group gets bigger than ~15 people. I'm happy for people to use the meetup site to create alternative discussion events for those that can't make it to the main meeting, but at this time, it's just not possible to let that meeting get any bigger.

The short story I was talking about is Conversational Ballgames By Nancy Masterson Sakamoto

Here is a link. I couldn't find the actual book where I originally read the story.

I apologize for backing out late, but I had travel plans that unexpectedly changed at the last minute. I will definitely make next month's.

Looking forward to seeing everyone today! If anyone's able to get there a little early and help me snag seats, that would be great.

I'm going to be a little late.

Hi everyone- our next meeting is not until 23 March, but I wanted to post information about a talk that is this Wednesday (5 March) at Union South. Author Cheryl Strayed is the speaker at the distinguished lecture series. I'm going, perhaps I'll see some of you there!
