Book discussion: Sense and Sensibility

Join us for an afternoon discussion of our September selection, Sense and Sensibility, by Jane Austen. Old and new members are welcome! If you haven't read the book, you're still welcome to attend and meet other group members.

If the waitlist gets full, members are welcome to post a second meeting!

We may also organize a movie viewing event following this movie. Anyone have a favorite film adaptation of Sense and Sensibility?

I won't be able to make it this week either due to a last minute trip to La Crosse. See you all next month!

At the August meeting, which was at the Memorial Union terrace, we discussed that it would probably not be feasible to continue meeting there once the students returned. Sarah was going to explore other options (besides Ancora and the Terrace). I'm not sure what the status is on that. I realized that this weekend is Parent's Weekend, which I think makes the Terrace a difficult option for this Sunday's meeting: it will probably be really crowded and parking and driving even more of a nightmare than usual. Anyone have any suggestions on alternative locations? Sarah? Maybe we could go back to Ancora for September and try to figure something else out?

Film adaption, if that's still on the cards: I vote for the one with Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, Kate Winslet, Alan Rickman (from the 1990's?) I saw it when it came out. I can't remember when that was, just that it seems like a long time ago.

I agree, let's go back to Ancora for September and then explore other possibilities later in the fall. Brocach came up as a possibility and I think that would be fun to try in October!
