I joined Downtown Toastmasters to become a better communicator, meet new people, and have a good time!
Downtown Toastmasters meetings are a lot of fun and bring in people from all walks of life. There’s always a lot of laughter and joking. The meeting includes random “Table Topics”. Because of our diversity, our table topics are always very interesting and informative. "Table topics" are short exercises in which a topic is proposed, and a member gives an impromptu speech in response. These off the cuff speeches help prepare for interviews or any other impromptu speaking situation. This is entirely optional, and first time guests are not required to speak. There are also planned speeches at each meeting. The speeches are designed to allow members to progress towards becoming more confident, calm, and collected when delivering speaking to any group whether they are employees, employers, courtrooms, or peers. No experience or any qualifications are required to come visit us. I would encourage anyone interested in self improvement or job skills to drop by.
Absolutely! I have learned to organize my thoughts and gather them quickly while speaking clearly and concisely. I truly love going to the meetings, and I really enjoy the friendship and camaraderie with my fellow speakers.
I'm Adelyn Ortlieb, member of Downtown Toastmasters. I am dedicated to helping others become more comfortable, proficient speakers while promoting a community of individiuals desiring to improve themselves professionally and personally.
It's a lot of fun and a great opportunity to learn and network! No experience is required, and guests are welcome!
