I have an unusual suggestion for a Meetup! Aside from attending concerts myself, I co-direct a chamber music series in L.A. that has a strong emphasis on unique programming.
We've presented opera stars from the Metropolitan Opera, film actors like Seth Rogen, international soloists, and principal players from the LA Phil and other major symphonies - all in an intimate, chamber music setting. Thayer Hall (across the street from Disney Hall) is a concert venue built specifically for small ensembles.
This weekend we're showcasing some of the most beautiful classical repertoire performed by amazing young stars of the classical world. Opera, harp, a world premiere, clarinet quintet, maybe the most beautiful tango ever written, and more - all in one evening. Chamber music is meant to be an intimate concert experience, so we deliver our program notes from the stage and interact more than usual with our audience.
We'd like to suggest a meetup during our sound check before the concert. We'll open the hall at 7:15pm only to people who tell the usher they're here "for the meetup". We can introduce ourselves (and guest artists) to each other, and you're welcome to sit in on the final part of our prep. After the concert, we hold an informal reception steps away at the Noe Bar at the Omni Hotel
We'd also like to offer the discounted price of $15 online advance tickets (regular is $35). Just use the code: MEETUP (all caps) during the purchase process.
