Beginners Practice with DC Dragon Boat Club

How are you? My name is Carlo Veloso, I am the vice president and one of the coaches for DC Dragon Boat Club ( I am sending this email because last year you inquired to try dragon boat racing. The Dragons are back! The DC Dragon Boat Club will be hosting beginners practice every Saturday unless we are racing that weekend. Please register and sign-up for practice at in order to sign up for practice. Signing up on meetup will not guarantee a seat on the boat. We invite you to paddle with us for the upcoming 2014 season.

The DC Dragon Boat Club is a diverse group of paddlers who enjoy the sport of dragon boat racing and the camaraderie. We welcome all individuals who want to learn more about paddling and dragon boat racing. We have boats representing all levels of paddling, from beginners to premier level. We train out of Gangplank Marina (Waterfront Metro) and paddle in the Washington Channel. We compete up and down the east coast and compete against some of the best clubs out there (USA and Canada). Dragon boat racing is a fun outdoor sport and a great way to meet new people.

Paddling is a great core workout and a fantastic way to get in shape. The first three practices are free and the cost to join the club is $150. We will host beginners beginners practices on Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 10 AM. In the beginners practice, coaches and club members will work with you one-on-one to teach you the proper stroke mechanics for dragon boat racing.
