The Olin Series

In 2010, Scott was invited to be an adjunct professor at Olin College where he taught two courses: Design for Manufacturing & Assembly and Mechanical Design. Our plan is to now offer these courses to the greater community via a series of videos and accompanying slides.

We'd like to invite a small group to our office this Friday to take part in the first two lectures: How to Select a Factory, and The Manufacturing Triangle.  We'll also have beers…because. The lectures are about twenty or so minutes long and we'll encourage questions and discussion.

Full disclaimer - this is a live filming event which means it's also an experiment. If it goes well, we'll make a regular habit of it.  And yes, attendance is limited but we'll be putting out the results to the group so a win win for all.

We'll have a separate update for the traditional hangout within the next few weeks as well.

Thanks everyone, looking forward to creating something cool together!

Hi All, I wanted to thank those of you who made it out to our filming on Friday. We have just released the first lecture, Design for Manufacturing: How to Select a Factory/The RFQ Process here:

The second lecture, (Mechanical Design/The Manufacturing Triangle) will be released in a couple of weeks. You'll note that we had to cut out some of the discussion for the purpose of length and confidentiality but overall, we think it went really well. We'll do round two at the beginning of June so stay tuned!

    Best, Beth

We're looking forward to seeing you all later. If you're taking the red line, we're located at the Alewife stop but you need to make your way across Fresh Pond/16 (there's a pedestrian tunnel) to get to our building. If you're driving, there's a sign that says you can't make the turn b/w 3p and 7pm but ignore that as in very tiny writing it says "except for 1 alewife center." Here's a map as a reference:,-71.140027,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x89e37706be802df5:0x8f0199a99e62a911

Finally, please update your rsvp if anything has changed as we do have a waitlist. Otherwise, we'll see you in a little while!
