There is quite a bit of walking involved so wear comfortable shoes (and a hat if it is sunny). We start at Hackney Wick Overground station. Then walk along the canal to Three Mills. There is a nice view of the Oast houses from alongside the canal. And also a Tesco where we can get sandwiches and drinks for a picnic lunch (and toilets). We will spend about an hour here and then tackle the longest part of the walk along the Limehouse Cut to the Thames.
This takes about an hour. It is along a towpath so there are not many places to gather as a group but one or two people could stop and draw as the mood takes you. And be aware of tow path "etiquette". Watch and listen out for cyclists and stand in to allow them to pass. At the end of the towpath there is a small park to the left (which you can walk through and out onto the Thames river path) and Limehouse Marina to the right with some very nice boats to draw.
The aim is to end up at The Narrow pub at around 16.00 which is on the Thames and has outside tables. As there is no shelter along the Limehouse Cut this trip is vulnerable to the weather so I shall be keeping an eye on the weather forecast. I will post an update nearer the time. There are no planned engineering works on the Overground that weekend but check tfl for other lines.
Look forward to seeing you on 13 July.
