Visit Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery

We will meet at on the steps outside the Portico Entrance to The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square.  If the weather is favourable then Trafalgar Square provides plenty of opportunities for sketching street scenes, people or monuments.  if the weather is poor we can visit the National Gallery.  And the National Portrait Gallery is just around the corner.  Trafalgar Square is within easy reach of a number of different tube and train stations with Charing Cross being the nearest.  Remember to check your own route on Transport for London for any weekend engineering works.  We will meet up at 16.00 to visit a local pub and review our work over a pint.  My mobile no is[masked] if you miss us or arrive late.

hey, it's my first meetup too, just curious what materials do people normally take to draw/paint with?

    October 24, 2013

    • Tom

Pencils, pens, paints, whatever you fancy! If the weather is bad and we have to go inside the galleries though, they don't normally allow 'wet' materials.

      October 24, 2013

  • Alejandro

I will be there! I hope the weather is nice next Saturday.

I hope very much to come to the October session, I have been thinking of doing a drawing of St. Martins etc. so this will give me the kick up the proverbial!!

Hi Martina. Sorry can't make this one. We'll be sketching in Madrid.
If you want a good pub to meet up try the Lamb and Flag behind Garrick St. One of the oldest pubs in London and used to be called
The Bucket of Blood due to its gruesome history. Dated from 1623,
Charles Dickens was a regular and in 1679 John Dryden was mugged
in the alley alongside, hence the upstairs room being called the Dryden Room. Cheers!
