Apologies for my slackness in setting up meetups in recent weeks!
Some of you guys have been writing to ask about upcoming meetups, so I thought I'd write to you all at the same time. It was really encoraging to hear from those of you who got in touch.
I started a new job a few weeks ago which has a post-graduate diploma in cognitive behavioural therapy tied into it as part of the role. So, full-time NHS employee and a full-time post-grad student to boot. I've been pretty tied up, and unfortunately too busy to take the time to set up new sessions.
But...I am lucky to have some very helpful friends in the group who are helping me back on the meetup horse.
Tom has agreed to help organise the group in future, which will no doubt keep things ticking over nicely. He is one of the original members or the pre-meetup DLL group, and has always made plenty of great suggestions for sessions. He's also the one who drew the scketch of Spitalfields Chapel on the main page. Cheers Tom.
Martina, another original member, has also saved me the trouble of trying to decide where to set the next meetup session after suggesting Covant Garden, which struck me as a very good idea. More details of that in the accompanying meetup post.
I should have another meetup arranged before the end of November, probably on the 21st, but I unfortunately don't have time to post that tonight.
Anyway, thanks to all for you patience. And might I suggest you invest in a pair of fingerless gloves? It ain't getting any warmer out there :)
This is a great group for anyone interested in drawing London's urban landscapes and parks, city landmarks, cemeteries, museums and galleries.
Sessions are very relaxed. Everyone splits up once a meeting point is picked out, so that we can all wander about to find something we're interested in drawing. Then at the end of the day and sometimes at lunchtime too we gather back together for a drink and to show what we've done. There is no tuition, but seeing other people's work is always a great way to see new techniques and ideas and get inspiration.
The group is entirely drop-in, so there is no obligation to enroll or attend every week, people just come when they can make it.
All sessions are absolutely free, all you'll need are materials you want to work with and a little money on your oyster card. All levels are welcome, hope you can join us!
