Announcing a new Meetup for Drawing London on Location!
What: Royal Festival Hall
When: January 9,[masked]:00 AM
The Royal Festival Hall
Thanks to Julia, we have permission to draw in the members room at the top of the Royal Festival Hall from 11am - 1pm on Sat 9 Jan. This room has some great views towards the London Eye, across the Thames, Hungerford Bridge and towards St Paul's. Afterwards we could perhaps try some portrait sketching, there are plenty of places in the main building to sit. Or, weather permitting, there's also lots to sketch along the Southbank - interesting details like the street lamps along the Thames with dolphins at the bottom etc, the secondhand book stalls under Waterloo bridge (good views of this from just inside the National film theatre cafe) Some interesting statues around too ( a huge bronze Nelson Mandela bust, just outside the RFH, a sleek modern stainless steel edifice outside the QEH and a traditional statue outside the National Theatre.
Meet in the members room which is on the 6th floor - (just say you're with the drawing group - they're reserving an area for us). The Southbank Centre is very near to Waterloo station, or a short stroll across Hungerford Bridge, from Charing Cross and Embankment tube stations.
The Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, Belvedere Rd, London, SE1 8XX
