This is a course in drawing professional storyboards for film, television & theatrical professionals. Independent film producers, directors, cinematographers, art directors, set designers, professional storyboarders are just a few of the people who can benefit from learning how to draw image sequences that accurately communicate their vision to those with whom they collaborate. You do not need to know how to draw before you join this meetup. You will learn how to draw well by coming to class. Topics covered include: How to draw objects and environments accurately, in perspective, to scale. Basic human anatomy and how to adapt it to the needs of the language of film : camera angles, emotional expression, and action (bodies in motion). Translation of a script into a fluid narrative using the basic tools of representational picture making: perspective, line, composition, and shadowing. Finding the critical moments in a script, knowing how to freeze the action and how to frame the action in service of the story. A well-crafted series of storyboards makes a project easier to fund and less expensive to produce. It also ensures that a project that ends up on screen or stage remains true to the vision its creative team had for it when they began.
