On 1st October 2013, as you know, the Drawing in Space (aka diningroomdrawingclub.co.uk) took over one of Brixton's most beautiful buildings, Brixton East. We started drawing on that day and continued until Sunday. Everyone was welcome to take part...to draw, explore, stay for a drink. During the long evenings, musicians came and went, making their mark on the space, and interacting with the artists and guests to make a series of collaborative works. The artists drawing responded to the space and the music, and the musicians performed to a crowd of busily drawing artists.
Afterwards, the lovely people at Morley Gallery invited us to show some of the work that Drawing in Space made, specifically that made in response to the music in the Cardew Space at Morley college (named for composer Cornelius Cardew).
The show is coming down on 14th November.
So on 7th November at 6.30pm, next Thursday, meet me in the Gallery at Morley College and we can then make our way to the Cardew Space for a look. (Its a corridor space close to a recital room, so congregating there is problematic!)
The gallery is in a separate building adjacent to the college, and shuts at 7, so if you can't make it before then, just head into the main college building, where the staff on the desk will be able to direct you to the Cardew Space.
Afterwards there's a great pub called the Three Stags just 2 minutes away where we can congregate for as long as we like...and perhaps maybe even do some drawing?
My number is 07729 533035. Call if you are running late/lost or can't find the group and I'll let you know where we are.
Hope you can come!
