Chris Parker (Head of Ordnance Survey’s, GeoVation programme).
GeoVation runs challenges to address specific problems within communities, which may be satisfied, in part, through the use of geography. GeoVation challenges are focussed on finding innovative and useful ways of using geographic information, including open data and tools, to build new ventures that will generate social, economic and environmental benefit.
Ordnance Survey have recently launched their GeoVation Challenge, ‘How can we help British Business improve environmental performance?’ supported by theEnvironment Agency and the ODI. The challenge is calling for innovative ideas that address the identified problems using geography, technology and design. Ordnance Survey are offering a slice of £100,000 in development funding for best use of Ordnance Survey data. The challenge runs to 1 May 2013.

Eventbox is in love with the inspirational and transformative effect that social events have on people and communities. Our aim is to provide the next evolutionary step in how social events come into being and are experienced. We are starting with solutions that will help develop and expand the creative arts ecosystem by inspiring more people to go to more creative arts events .Within the creative arts we are starting with a focus on music events, providing a service that makes it inspiring, pleasurable and easy to discover music events. Our service makes it so that within 1km, or any distance, of wherever you are you can listen to music from all the bands and DJs performing tonight, or on any given date, in order to discover what’s out there then share your discoveries with friends to figure together what to go to.

Yelena Kensborn (Co-Founder of Upstart-media.co.uk)
Yelena Kensborn and James Mayer started Upstart Media in the end of last year. We are two TV producers who believe that content can be produced and delivered in a much more creative way using digital platforms and mobile devices. We focus on concerts and musicians because we know currently how difficult it is for musicians to generate revenue via the Internet. We see a clear gap in the marker as artists are struggling to reach a global audience in a straighforward way.
