Occupy Dixwell! An art flash mob!

Come help give attention to the arts!

Make a statement!

This beautiful building is going up for auction next week.  I have a vision of it being a multi arts cooperative.  Can we get the attention from someone that would want to invest in this?  Maybe there is someone that is looking to buy the building and we can convince them an  all arts complex would be the best option!

This Saturday a group of artists.. painters, photographers, writers, musicians.. will be occupying the front sidewalk in front of this building.

Come share your art, your conversation.  Make a statement!

It actually didn't sell. There was a bid for 500k but the owner wants at least 900k. I talked to someone interested in the building that wants to do something in the arts. His assessment is that it would take 3 million to renovate it. I'm putting together a foundation that will be raising money for my vision. There are a lot of possible buildings that could be renovated for a lot less. I will keep everyone posted about the foundation!

What did the property go for at auction? Did an arts person buy it?

Awesome! Seriously. But out of my league, too. Fingers crossed that whomever gets it, has sensibilities.

It sounds out of my league. I came across an old listing that indicates the previous owners put 3 mil in it, and it still needs a lot of work. Just too big a property for me, I think I saw 65,000 sq ft. But thanks for the info. Got word of this thru Cathy's Arts & Creative Meetup.

I can email you a pdf of the property specs if you are interested.

It depends on the bids they get. I'd say 700k, but I have no idea. I have a potential investor for a small part of that, but not that much.

Any rough idea of the range it might sell at?

The property was listed at 1.3 million. It's been on the market for 4 years. Currently, there is $25,000 in 2011 taxes due. 10 percent of price is due the day of the auction and the remaining at closing.

Is there a minimum price at auction? Do you know what the listing price was or an estimate of the expected auction price?
