The Harvesters have setup a screening of A Place at the Table (http://www.takepart.com/place-at-the-table) on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 7:00pm in Kansas City, MO at the Alamo Drafthouse Mainstreet for $12.00/ticket. There will be a conversation afterward discussing how we can address food insecurity in our region and nationally.
BTW: The Friends of Community Media (http://ourfcm.org/) are working with some other local groups on a series of films related to our activism. The first one is coming up at the Kansas International Film Festival (http://www.kansasfilm.com/). We are sponsoring the screening of Citizen Koch (http://www.citizenkoch.com/) at KIFF on Friday, Oct 4, 2013 at 5:30pm. Do you think anyone would be interested in forming a Screening Liberally group and work with us to setup some documentary screenings?
We are the Kansas City, MO chapter of Drinking Liberally (www.livingliberally.org/drinking) We meet at the 75th street brewery every Wednesday ( holidays excepted) at 7 PM and at the Westport Flea Market on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 6:30 PM. We also have a Sunday Brunch on the 1st Sunday of the Month at the Record Bar at 12 PM. From time to time we may have a special event such as getting together to watch a topical documentary. Our purpose is to give people a chance to relax and talk politics in depth without a preset agenda or program. Although we may sometimes have a speaker. And even though we are a liberal organization, everyone is welcome as long as they are civil and respectful.
