The purpose of the DuPage Peace Through Justice Coalition is multifaceted: to promote nonviolent solutions to terrorism, to call on members of Congress to protect civil liberties, and to provide a public forum to present alternatives to war and education on cross cultural issues. The Coalition is made up of people from diverse ethnic, racial, religious and cultural backgrounds united in their belief that war is not the answer to terrorism. DuPage County is standing up for peace! Many people in our county are working to stop the current drive for war and promote peaceful resolutions of international differences. Shortly after September 11, 2001, the DuPage Peace Through Justice Coalition was formed for this purpose. We invite you to join us and strengthen the voices for peace. We also welcome non-members to join us at any of our meetings and activities.
If you enjoy interesting people, delicious food, stimulating conversation, then you'd probably enjoy Diversity Dinners!
Your group of ten will gather for a cooperative meal on about seven weekend nights (usually Saturdays) spaced over a year, taking turns hosting at home. Couples and individual adults of all ages, stages and walks of life, heritages and affinities are invited!
We discuss our own backgrounds and experiences relative to the personal - local – national - global issues that any of us may bring up because we are curious, excited and / or concerned about them. It's civil multilogue among new friends!
At one Diversity Dinner we plan the next, finding a date convenient for our group of ten. It's easy, relaxed, educational, economical, comfortable, congenial! To learn more, go to USServas.org under Projects and see Diversity Dinners. And contact SDownsHughes@yahoo.com or 630/420-4233 -- phone is best! New groups will be forming. Please consider joining!
