Overnight Camping/ Trek
400 AED - approximately
Hello my lovely Dubai friends:
Here's the invite (finally) for my non-safari "safari". I did this last fall, and it was a blast, so I thought I'd share the love. Muah!!
On Friday November 30th, we will meet at Dragon Mart EPPCO station around 2pm (official time to come). ( Let me know if you need a ride, so we can arrange a carpool.) Then, we'll head to the farm, which is 15 min. from Dragon Mart.
At the farm, you can choose either a camel or horse to ride to the campsite. There will also be a dune-bashing option but only one 4x4, so only 4 people can take this option each way.
The ride to the campsite is about 2 hours, so wear comfortable shoes and clothing. By the time we arrive the sun is setting, and the view is idyllic!
When we arrive at the campsite (around 5 or 6pm), we will start unpacking, set up the tents, and maybe go for a little walk in the desert. We can also plan some games or even music (Anyone have a guitar?)
The BBQ will start around 8pm, and we can sit around the fire--in true Bedouin style-- while everything is prepared. The guys make a great Arabic spread, complete with dessert!
The next morning, we will have a nice breakfast, which is also covered in the price. There will be plenty of options for vegetarians and meat-lovers alike. Then, we'll head back to the farm on horses/camels and/or dune-bashing.
The horses/camels and/or dune-bashing will all depend on suppy and demand. Everyone can choose whether to go on a horse back or on a camel back. (Horses are more comfortable and easier; camels are more unique.) But if you already know what you want, speak up now to reserve your preference.
*Note: We will be planning a couple practice rides for people who have never ridden a horse or camel. If this will be your first time on a horse or camel, I would recommend getting your feet wet before taking on a 2-hour ride.
Please bring: sleeping bag, tent; dark-glasses, sun-cream, sweater. Please wear: comfortable clothing, shoes with enclosed-toes. Everything will be sent to the camping base by 4x4. No need to bring food or water; EVERYTHING is provided. It can get cold in the desert at night, so PLEASE bring something to keep you warm.
Of course, this will depend upon the number. If we reach 20, the will be around 400 AED per person, which is very fair considering it is an overnight trip with two meals and use of the animals. Plus, the horse farmer, Khalid is a great source of free entertainment:D
I'd like to collect the money a couple weeks in advance, if possible, just to reserve the booking. If you change your mind, please be sure to update your RSVP.
Yalla habibis and habibtis!!
