Meet others for a leisurely brunch/lunch/dinner/whatever with the days newspapers.
Talk/discuss/debate current affairs... which is 'anything and everything' - both local and international... from politics to religion to economics to sociology to celebrity - whatever's getting your goat - once it's interesting, and you're actually in the habit of reading a newspaper/book/webnews, it's 'in'.
No particular viewpoint or knowledge is required, just an interest in what's going on in the world. Bring an open mind and a sense of humour. Any age... any political leaning... any religion... whatever...
NOTE: Please feel free to put your name on the waiting lists if a meetup event you'd like to attend is fully booked - there are always a couple of drop outs leading up to the event... and if there are quite a few on the lists I'll be able to review how I work this thing during the next year (maybe make it bi-monthly, choose different venues to allow for more attendees in a different format, repeat the events that had most interest etc.)
"Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it, misdiagnosing it, and then misapplying the wrong remedies," Groucho Marx.
