This month we have senior engineer from Klarna, Malcolm Matalka, speak about how they use Riak for their real-time purchase taking system.
Klarna is a Swedish-based e-commerce company that provides payment services for online stores. The company's payment solutions are offered by more than 15,000 e-stores across seven countries in Europe: Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Austria.
Talk Title: FRED On Riak: An Experience Report
FRED is Klarna's highly available real time purchase taking system. Riak was chosen as FREDs primary database in order to meet the demands of an always-on system. This talk will cover Klarna's experiences using Riak from development to operations.
Malcolm is a distributed systems enthusiast. He has been a code grunt at Klarna for over two years, all of which has been spent on the FRED project. He spends most of his time somewhere between the business logic and the database. He enjoys functional programming and eating
