Let's Go Sailing - Thursday June 20th at 6.30pm from Dun Laoghaire

Hi - Please read full e-mail for Sailing Thursday June 20th at 6.30pm.

Please read full e-mail!

Forecast looks good. It's still important to wrap up well as the sea is always a bit cooler. So an extra fleece  and windcheater is worth bringing along.

Expect to be out for about 1.5 to 2 hours. But if you're feeding a parking meter I recommend covering 3hours so that you can relax.

What to wear (Generally): Layers, Waterproof /windproof layer of jackets, salopets( waterproof over-trousers), hats and gloves. Essentially Hiking Gear without the heavy boots!

Layers are important, just to give you the flexibility to adjust to changing temperatures.

Warm footwear with non-marking soles is also important.

How Much: Most people donate €20 each and some a little more. A number of people have been asking what's a reasonable donation towards the boat and this is the best guidance I can provide; €20 per person seems to be about right. It’s up to you. You can make a donation at the Meetup for an amount that you feel is reasonable. If you can't, that's fine too.

Very Important note for "First Timers"  I will request your mobile number after you register. If I don't receive it, your registration may be quashed and your place given to another person.

What next: I'll provide a few more details to people who confirm - like where exactly we'll meetup in the marina, phone numbers and other stuff that'll pop into my head beforehand.

Please note: it may be after 11am Thursday June 20th before I can e-mail more details to people who confirm. It'll depend on the pace of interest really.

I'm looking forward to meeting you, the kettle will be on, and welcoming you aboard.

Dave

By the way...if people are ever interested in racing there are almost always boats in Dun Laoghaire looking for crew. From dinghies to keelboats. When I lived outside Ireland it was the way I learned people and cities...and languages too. Turn up at the quayside when there's racing and someone almost always needs crew. if you can pull a rope that's often enough, though more skill is always good. the Sailing in Dublin club also makes sailing really accessible. and have a look at the DLDinghies pages to see what the small-boat sailors get up to. Hi Paul, You're welcome to join the waiting list. Seem to be full at the moment. Also, please note there is no provision for guests so I won't be able to accommodate your friend unless they join the group and so on.
