Share & Critique

This meetup is to critique each other's latest works and chat about all aspects writing and life in general.

Prompts:

Write about one or more of the following themes, an idea of your own or see below for other options.

Complications arise from a lie.

Skydive.

Elements of the protagonist's memories start to repeat themselves in his or her daily life, like deja vu, but where the protagonist remembers exactly when they experienced the similar events before and so know what to expect.

Festival romance.

Kudos if you can merge all four prompts into a single narrative. Reddit.com/r/WritingPrompts and writersdigest.com/prompts also have interesting prompts.

Make sure to bring several paper copies of your work. It's good to submit your piece to the email address a few days in advance also.

Formats and word counts

The word limit is about 500 words.

If you find that too short you can submit longer pieces to the email address, and just bring along copies of the first page or an excerpt of your favorite part, up to 500 words. This will provide a focal point for the critique. These pieces shouldn't be longer than 2,500 words and ideally submitted around a week in advance so people will have time to read them. Let us know in the comments below so we will know to login to the email account.

If you're working on something longer than 2,500 words and you want to get feedback on it, you can submit it to the email address but bear in mind that it might not be read in it's entirety as people may not have the time.

The best file formats to submit writing to the gmail account are .doc .rtf and .pdf. This is to make sure everyone can read it on whatever device they're using.

Submissions:

You can send your work to the gmail address [masked] a few days prior to the meeting. (Even still, it's good to bring along several copies or excerpts to the meetup so it can be read on the night.)

You can also login to the gmail account and read what other people have submitted. It can be accessed it by going to gmail.com in the web browser. If you are already signed in to google, you may need to sign out first. The password for the account is "published".

And Finally:

If you're just considering being a writer and/or want to attend this meetup without bringing along any material, you're welcome to join us.

Hi there, I'm looking forward to meeting writers based in Dublin. I live in London but am visiting, and look forward to meeting you!

Hey, I hope to make this event tomorrow night. I may not bring something to critique, but will come to meet everyone and find out more. Hope that is okay? Denise
