Swim and Go For Lunch After

Hi Everyone,

I'm experiencing technical difficulties this evening so apologies for the lateness of the full spiel for this meetup. Peter and I decided to change the location and time of this meetup for a few reasons so hopefully more people will be free now.

So, it's Seapoint at 1pm and if everyone could be there sharpish so we don't get cold feet that would be great. Meet on the sea side of the Martello Tower to the left of changing area as you're facing the sea. Ruth is bringing her little seal as mascot and sign.  There could be rain tomorrow but we'll be getting wet anyway so man up! We can put the clothes under the shelters while we splash.

New comers are very welcome, although the water is cold it's also very refreshing and we are a very friendly group.

What to bring:

Good idea to wear a silicone/rubber hat to keep in the heat but it's up to yourself.

Wetsuit wearers are welcome also.

Very good idea to have a woolly/ fleecy hat for after the swim

Essential to bring a flask of hot beverage for after the swim. If you don't have a flask yet most of us do and we like to share.

Essential to have warm clothes for after the swim no matter how warm the day you will be glad of the extra layers afterwards.

We had a great swim in the rain yesterday with 6 seals. We were greeted by so high a tide that we couldn't walk round the bottom of the tower. Everyone made it out the buoy and back. The water wasn't too cold and it had stopped raining by the time we got back in. Welcome to Colin, who made his first appearance with the Seals. The rest of the afternoon was spent in Café du Journal in Monkstown drinking copious amounts of tea and hot chocolate.
