Duchess is a global network for women in Java technology. This SF Bay Area meetup group focuses on hands-on learning together, talks, sharing best practices, and networking.
(New info! We gathered on Oct 20, 2014 and the beginner group decided to go through the UC Berkeley 61B course together and we have a wonderful volunteer to tutor those of us who are completely new to programming! The schedule moving forward will reflect this. We will try to follow the pace of the course, but will adjust our ambitions if we need to take it more slowly).

This group is intended to be exclusively open for people who identify as women.

Duchess has been growing since 2007 and are the only global Java User Group. We are recently starting up a chapter in the SF Bay Area to connect the women who work with Java technology in one of the most innovative regions in the world. We believe that women have a role in shaping the future of IT as it becomes more aligned to business goals and customer needs. Come join us to connect, share, and get inspired.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
