In recognition of World Food Day, Loudoun Veg is hosting a "Stone Soup" potluck dinner and food drive. We're doing this as part of a Vegan Food Stamp Challenge going on Oct 13-19th. We're encouraging folks to try eating on a food stamp budget of about $4 a day for one week (or $30 for the week.) Taking the Challenge helps raise awareness around the issue of hunger here at home and around the globe.
You don't have to participate in the Challenge to come to the potluck. We simply ask that you bring a vegan dish to share that costs NO MORE than $2 per serving to prepare. If you are taking the Challenge, just bring whatever vegan dish you were planning to eat that night and share it with the group.
We'll also be collecting donations for Loudoun Interfaith Relief at the dinner, so if you are planning to donate any of the savings on your grocery bill as part of the Challenge, you can bring it along and we'll see that it gets to the food pantry.
Interfaith donations can be in cash/check, grocery gift cards or canned goods (vegan please!) We'll ask Interfaith to apply any cash donations to the purchase of produce and other vegan staples.
Since this event will be held in a private home, I'll send out an email with the address to those attending before the dinner.
