We are a well established friendly and accessible group of people who study life drawing and painting both as an end in itself and also as a way of informing and enlivening other areas of our work and lives. Please note that this website is only one of the ways we keep in contact with attendees and that the average session will consist of around twenty artists. Just looking at meetup.com it can look a little desolate!
Tuition is not offered at the moment (however we are starting some specific learning events for those interested) as we find that most mature artists learn through observation and awareness and tire quickly of being 'helped'. There are artists of all abilities and approaches present at most sessions and it is quite in order to make polite comments about others work and to solicit constructive comments about ones own.
The 'drop in' format responds to how most creative people are rather than trying to make them conform to the rigours of institutional administration. For this reason we have many members who come once in a while, whilst others are regular as clockwork and some who just pass through.
The company of other creative people is a real tonic, particularly for those starved of it through the strictures of earning their daily bread. There is plenty of opportunity to meet new people or say hello to old acquaintances, particularly over refreshments during the breaks at half-time.
Our venue is large warm and dry and it is well lit with professional photographic lights giving even modelling over the subject.
We keep in contact with our members with a regular newsletter reminding them of sessions and keeping them up to date with which model we have, where we are in a pose or any other useful or timely information. It is strongly recommended that you join our mailing list and possibly have a browse of our website whilst you're there.
