I live in Berkley, and it looks like the last store out of my regular stops closed down - Blue Dragon. Others I've used to check out are gone: Riders Oakland Mall and Old Guard Hobby. I'm settling for buying my books and miniatures from Barnes & Noble. They at least have a table set up for D&D products unlike other bookstores.

Any recommendations for other local stores? I sort of hear names over the boards but I'd be interested in finding out exactly where they all are so I can find something close.

Anyone been to Pandemonium? I've stopped in there once before but that was years ago. It's probably the closest true "gaming store" to me and it's about 30 minutes away.

Was the blue dragon the one near my place? That stinks, I'd meant to buy more awesome pink dice!

Blue Dragon was closer to you, yeah. It was at M-59 / Mound.

I haven't found any local stores that carry a good assortment of D&D stuff. I've had to order everything (books, dice, miniatures, etc.) through the internet. I'd be interested in any good local hobby shops as well.

I think I may give Time Travelers (in Berkley right near us) a second chance. They have always had a poor selection in my previous experiences there.

Otherwise, i usually go to the Barnes and Noble at 14 mile / John R, because one of the managers or assistant managers plays D&D. They've tried to organize D&D games in-store before, and they also have all their D&D books and miniatures on a display table in the middle of the store... rather than behind the counter like all the other big bookstores.

Guild of Blades sent me an email a couple months ago offering to support our roleplaying efforts, i.e. providing meeting location, etc. I never followed up, but it seemed like a cool store.

I may go check it out on Thursday since I took the day off work. Their video doesn't make it seem like they have room for a group our size to comfortably play, but I'd rather give a local hobby store my money as far as books go, rather than a big chain book store.

Hey, cool, thanks for the info. I'll have to check this place out too. From the youtube video it looks like they have a decent selection.
