I would like to explore a few ideas on politics and religion, particularly in South Africa. Are religious beliefs influenced by politics? Do religious leaders use politics as a means of attaining power? Are political beliefs influenced by religious convictions? Is there a seperation between church and state in South Africa, and how does this affect policy? Is that seperation clearly defined? Consider the lyrics of our National Anthem? What religious significance does this have, and should there be any reference to god or gods in the National Anthem if there is a seperation between church and state?
The venue for this meetup is negotiable. We have ample space for the meeting as well as sufficient and safe parking in the road, but we know it's quite far for some people to drive out into the boondooks.
Guys, I will not make it back to Durban in time tonight a I am stuck in Johannesburg. I would like to postpone the meeting to next week. I apologize deeply. I just cannot get an earlier flight. So sorry.
