Hiking at Umstead

Spring has sprung, Active Gamers, and it's time to get out in nature for a bit. After a successful test run last year I'm starting a new recurring hiking meet-up.  We'll be visiting different trails available in the Triangle for a moderate-length hike (5 miles or less), and locating a good place for lunch afterwards.

I'll be leading a 4 mile or so hike through the Hwy 70 side of Umstead State Park*. The trails are fairly simple and the trails are well-marked, but I would encourage you to wear appropriate footwear since it's pretty wet this time of year and there's likely to be some mud and/or standing water.  Also, check the weather report prior to heading out and dress appropriately.

For anyone who is interested, we'll be heading to Lynnwood Grill for lunch after the hike.  So  remember to bring your wallet.

Both the hike and the lunch will be dog-friendly, so if you have a well-behaved dog feel free to bring him or her along.  My husky Dakota will be joining us for both.

Please be sure to be on-time for this event, as our group will be leaving promptly at 11:00.  Stragglers will, naturally, be hunted for sport.  As always, this meet-up is available only to members who have paid their 2013 annual dues.  Dues are $3 and MUST BE PAID ONLINE here.  If you have not paid your dues you will be moved to the waiting list to make room for members in good standing.

Just a quick reminder to please try to be ontime for Sunday, or let me know via cell or email if you will be late, or cannot attend. Also, the hike will be fairly easy, but we're likely to get some weather between now and Sunday morning, so the trails may be a bit messy. Please wear proper footwear. Also, long pants/long sleeved shirts are recommended to stave off biting insects. Finally, if you have not already PLEASE PAY YOUR DUES. We have members in good standing currently on the waiting list, this means I will begin to remove members who have not paid to make room.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
