Meaty Boardgames - Series 1, Round 2

*Spots for event limited to 8 people (2 games, 4 people each) unless we get 4 on waiting list to warrant a 3rd game.

Hello Active Gamers,

Lately we've been playing simple boardgames, but now it's time to try some deeper boardgames to challenge and delight our brains!

This event is still a casual and friendly environment for playing boardgames and having fun, but we would like people to be able to learn a deeper game, play it several times, learn from mistakes, and try new strategies over time. That means we'll be focusing on just a few games and hopefully play them over and over.

We'll also be keeping track of scores or wins/losses just for fun. There is a strategy gamer in all of us, sometimes we just need someone to put fuel in the car...and uhhh so you can drive it. Vroom vroom. Games will be limited for now, so RSVP size will be small, but can fluctuate for future meetups. This event is for Active Gamers who have paid their annual membership dues. RSVP list will be adjusted to accommodate those who have.

Why play strategy boardgames?

There's a lot of fun and amazing strategy boardgames out there that go through months and years of playtesting, but it's sad that the depths of these games never get explored.

What is Atomic Empire?

Atomic Empire is a boardgame/comic store in Durham that has tons of space, easy parking, and serves beer and Loco Pops. We'll be doing our best to reserve a room to avoid all the other nerds in the store.

What is a meaty boardgame?

What makes a game meaty is different for everyone. Hopefully the games we pick are fun, reasonably easy to grasp, and offer meaningful depth for some people. :)

It was a blast! If we need to pay to reserve that room next time, I am open to chipping in.

Maybe we could just have it on a Saturday afternoon vs a busy weeknight.

Chaos in the Old World is a great game! I wasn't paying attention to Matthew at all and didn't try to stop him from world domination until it was too late :(

I just looked at directions to this place. I used to live a few miles down the road on[masked] and never knew about it!

Atomic Empire is pretty new actually. The old location was a dump called Scifi Genre and they moved in and switched the name to Atomic Empire.

Oklahoma!! Don't worry just a short 20 hour drive... That's why I'm leaving Wednesday. Worth it though, the last of eight siblings to graduate high school!

That's sounds perfect to me. I'd rather play the same game a few times and get a real good sense of strategy, game mechanics, etc now that i've found a new one i really like!!
