Hey Active Gamers,
Since it's almost Halloween, we have several awesome deduction games for ya'll to play starting at 6:30pm (for Active Gamers who have paid their annual Meetup dues). Bring your best deduction skills because almost everyone will be lying to your face.
The night's games will be divided into: Group A (short games) and Group B (one long game). Please comment on which one you want to play most.
Group A will play 3 games:
Linq, Mascarade, and The Resistance taught by Manny. Max 6-8 players.
Group B will play 1 game:
Battlestar Galactica w/ parts of the Exodus, Pegasus, and Daybreak expansions taught by Chris with assistance from Amanda. Max 5 players. Max 6 if the 6th is an experienced player.
Group A's Games:
Linq by Andrea Meyer and Erik Nielsen
Linq is a spy themed word association game where there are at least 2 spies in a group and the rest are double agents. The 2 spies (who don't know each other) can only communicate using a single word and the rest of the group can also say a single word. Then at the end those who can pinpoint who the 2 spies are get points (including the spies themselves).
Those who incorrectly guess will be deducted points...or something like that.
Mascarade by Bruno Faidutti
In this game of hidden roles, the first player to grab 13 gold wins. Each player is given a face-up role card that has a special power. Then each player flips their role card upside down (hopefully they remembered what other people had). On their turn, each player can claim to use a special power that they may or may not have...but if someone calls them out on it they lose 1 gold.
It plays something like that.
The Resistance by Don Eskridge
A classic social deduction game where 2 teams (The Resistance vs the government spies) outwit each other by voting for leaders, passing and failing missions, and doing their best to discover their true allies.
Group B's Game:
Battlestar Galactica by Corey Konieczka
The classic deduction game to rule them all.
At the beginning of the game people are randomly assigned as being either a human or cylon. Then you play the game and the character you pick determines what skill cards you get (each skill card is a different color).
Then crisis events happen and each character can secretly contribute their colored skill cards (or not) to help prevent or not prevent that crisis from happening. All the time you try to figure out who is human or cylon. And then halfway through the game you randomly get re-assigned as either being a human or cylon. Oooh scary.
