Lunch...one of my favorite meals of the day that I spend too much of alone. If you have nothing better to do or take a late lunch at your workplace, come join in for a delicious meal at one of the best places to eat.
About The Refectory Cafe:
The Refectory Cafe was originally located at Duke Divinity School and for many years served as a hard-to-get-to destination (unless you had a Duke parking pass) for hungry foodies and vegetarians. Thankfully for us, Duke raised the rent for its space on campus which forced the owners of the cafe to move to a new spot in Durham.
The Refectory Cafe serves fresh food from scratch at an affordable price. It's one of those "feel good" places you want to eat at because they follow some great principles:
- The Refectory is proud to use as many local and organic products as possible.
- The Refectory is proud to pay its employees living wages and give them benefits.
- The Refectory is proud to offer delicious food for vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free peeps.
- The Refectory is considered a "green cafe" because they strive to be socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable. The restaurant is completely styrofoam free.
My favorite thing about The Refectory Cafe is the specials they have on their dry erase board (stuff not listed on their normal menu).
The normal menu is great too and they've been serving some "classic" dishes for years:
