Digital Motion Showcase
Event location and time :
CAM Raleigh, 2013-09-13 and 2013-09-15. Exact times to be announced.
The geekSPARK Digital Motion Showcase will feature creative exhibits of technology which invite the visitor to interact with them. Exhibits may utilize technology including (but not limited to) cameras, microphones, proximity sensors, projectors, lasers, speakers, buzzers, motors, actuators, QR codes, smartphones, and websites. Preference is given to exhibits which strike a good balance between creative expression and technological “magic”, but we will consider applications for exhibits which stand out due primarily to one of either technological novelty or creative vision. An ideal exhibit will engage visitors for 2-10 minutes and will leave them talking about the exhibit for hours later. We strongly encourage exhibits which source material from visitors or from other events at SPARKcon, integrating words, images, and sounds such that the experience changes throughout the duration of viewing hours. The showcase will be hosted in the A/V room of CAM Raleigh during SPARKcon.
No formal training or previous experience with exhibiting is required. We encourage applications from anyone with inspiration, ability, and something to exhibit. If you are new to exhibiting, please let us know so that we can help you succeed.
The exhibits will be curated by Justis Peters, a technologist with 20 years experience and a veteran exhibitor with the geekSPARK Digital Motion Showcase. Final selections will also be vetted by CAM Raleigh, to ensure that their space can safely accomodate the installation.
