Christine Falls by Benjamin Beck This debut mystery by Booker prize winner John Banville (Black is a pseudonym) stares the widowed and alcoholic Dublin coroner Quirke who investigates the death of Christine Falls and the disappearance of her newborn. With Black's characteristically lyrical writing, Christine Falls reaches down into the history of Quirke's family and up to the height of Catholic power in Ireland.
