By popular request--in August we are reading
Geek Love by Katherine Dunn. Be prepared for an unflinching look at the human psyche through Dunn's bizarre premise and completely engrossing read. Art and Lily decide to create their freak show by genetically engineering children and lots of experimental drugs. Like all experimenters, Art and Lily did not anticipate their results. Reviews of
Geek Love include descriptors like "spellbinding" and "brilliant, suspenseful, heartbreaking tour de force" (
Publishers Weekly 1989). Reader beware, as author Douglas E. Winter said "Horror is not a genre, . . . it is an emotion."

I had a lot of fun. I'm glad Elizabeth and I got to meet new people and share (opposing?) views on the book. The conversation was intelligent and compelling, bordering at times on confrontational- but I'm into being challenged. I feel it makes me a better person. Inherent evil, anyone?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
