2013 Best Picture Showcase - Part 1

Each year, AMC Theaters show the Oscar Best Picture Nominees on the weekends before the Oscars. This year the nine movies are being shown on Feb 16th & Feb 23rd. According to the AMC website, the Best Picture showcase will be playing at Southpoint this year.

Feb 16th - Amour, Les Miserable, Argo and Django Unchained ($30)

Feb 23rd - Beasts of the Southern Wild, Life of Pi 3D, Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook and Zero Dark Thirty ($40)

You get $10 off if you buy passes for both weekends at the box office.

AMCStubs Members earn $5 AMC Stubs Bucks to use on each event day when tickets are purchased in advance. If you attend both days, you’ll earn $5 to use on concessions each day.

I've attended this event 5 of the past 6 years in other states. I'm looking forward to attending again this year and am hoping some of you will join me. It is a fun event, even if you have seen some or all of the nominated movies.

Additional Info:

The Best Picture Showcase is an all day into the night event. You get seats in a single theater to watch all 4/5 movies in a row. There is usually 15-20 mins between movies with 1 longer 60-75 mins break for dinner. Hopefully we can get seats together.

I will get additional info on tickets this week as they are not yet online for Southpoint - most likely delayed due to the transition to being an AMC Theater.  Remember - to get the discount for both weekends, tickets have to be bought at the Box Office.

UPDATE 1/26/13:  Tickets are now available for Southpoint 17 through this link http://www.amctheatres.com/movies/2013-best-picture-showcase-2-16 or directly at www.movietickets.com.  They are not being sold through Fandango.

Hello Jeanne-Marie...Thanks so much for posting these events. I had no idea about this. I can't make it the 16th and I am unsure about the 23rd. Are you willing to Host these?

Sure I'll host - haven't been a host before. Anything I need to know or do?

Well this is a bit different but generally just meet and greet people who want to join you for specific movies. Not sure how this will work but I assume a movie schedule will be posted and then people can let you know which movies they plan to attend. Maybe have a spot selected to meet between movies. If it appears to arduous, it might have to be an FYI event.
