What was originally just one jam packed Sunday of more varieties of music that most can even begin to envision, has now become two.....
This year we are partnering with the North Carolina Folklore Society on Saturday in a celebration of the organization's 100th Anniversary.
The Folklore society will be celebrating in Carrboro on Saturday September 28th with music, food, art, demonstrations, and so much more at numerous venues around Town. More information can be attained at N C Folklore Society. The Recreation and Parks Department has scheduled four groups to perform at the Town Commons between 2:00 & 6:00 p.m.. as a contribution to the celebration.
Then....The Carrboro Music Festival on Sunday!!!
This 100th anniversary celebration will be followed the next day by Carrboro's day long, free festival featuring over 180 performing acts at 25 indoor and outdoor venues. In the space of a few hours within downtown Carrboro, a listener can hear Bluegrass, Folk, Jazz, Country, Rock & Roll, Classical, and World Music. This is Carrboro's effort to showcase Triangle area performers and the varied musical styles they represent. All of the performers donate their talents to foster a strong sense of community and to reveal their talents to a wider audience.
How to Meetup:
The Saturday Folklore Society events are just FYI and not part of the Meetup. For the Carrboro Music Festival on Sunday, if you would like to Meetup, please meet at 11:30 at the Park and Ride lot listed below. Parking in Carrboro is hard to find. You can try your luck, but I recommend the bus! I will wait until 11:45 before boarding.
Carrboro is quite walkable and the music is both indoors and out all across the town. The range of music is so vast as I am sure most of your tastes are, so this is again a difficult festival to do as a Meetup. We can start out together to get the lay of the land and then what usually happens is groups or individuals split off and do their own thing. That is fine as I know most will not necessarily agree with my tastes. You can park yourself at one venue all day or do what I do, travel all over the town and back again. It's one of the best freebies out there by far!
Wear comfortable shoes; sunglasses, hat, bring a bottle of water (drinks and food can be purchased at food trucks and restaurants)

Free Transportation - Where to find the bus:
A free bio-diesel shuttle bus will be running back and forth between the Carrboro Plaza Park & Ride Lot and downtown from noon until 8:00 PM on Sunday.
The Park & Ride Lot is behind the center of the buildings.
A map of the route is at www.carrboromusicfestival.com
Your annual $5 dues will be collected at this event. Please voluntarily submit your dues to the Host at this time. The Meetup site is not free ($144/year) and dues must be paid to maintain the site. Thanks in advance
