10th Annual Beaver Queen Pageant

This event is co-ed and kid-friendly. The Beaver Queen Pageant is a fun and raucous outdoor community celebration to benefit the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association, a group that works to protect Durham's Ellerbe Creek and its surrounding lands. The event is held at Duke Park in Durham and features music, food trucks, and pageant contestants dressed up as flamboyant beavers with festive tails. Admission is free, and audience members buy votes for their favorite "beavers." The beavers will engage in various gyrations and contortions in order to win votes.

Bring chairs, blankets and picnics. Leashed dogs are welcome; owners are asked to be sure to control their dogs, clean up after them and don't let them sniff the beavers.
