In 1944, an American airman named Arthur J. Simms fell in love with the beauty, foods and flavors of France. It was to become a passion that would change his life.

Stationed there during the final days of World War II, young Arthur J. was taken by the friendly neighborhood bistros and warm, inviting cafés. Arthur J. loved the simple yet charming meals. He savored the aroma of freshly baked breads, café au lait and the company of good friends raising toasts all around. Equally captivating was a mademoiselle he met by chance, who went by the name of Mimi. Arthur J. Simms never forgot his days in France. In 1978, he opened the first Mimi's Cafe® – a neighborhood bistro inspired by his memories of Mimi and passion for good food, wine and camaraderie that he remembered so fondly.

Folks...I am temporarily canceling the Mimi's brunch and the Cary Outdoor Sculpture walk until I have a firmer idea of when I can work this in with my work schedule. I still plan to do both but it might be later in April or in May. Apologies but my schedule is crazy now. I may post a shorter, regular brunch before this one.

    Jan,

Just wondering is the Sunday Brunch going to be the last Sunday in March? April 1 is a Monday.

Hi Keri....sorry about the confusion. This brunch was originally supposed to happen last fall but I changed it to some far off date (at the time) for the Spring. I just chose April 1 but the date is not truly set yet. I can't figure out how to put TBD. It will be on a Sunday but probably around the first Sunday, maybe April 7th. I will update everyone after next weekend's brunch for March.

Just in case someone did not see that the brunch has changed....we are doing Sunday brunch at Blend Cafe in Durham this Sunday because we received a special invite with a freebie. We will do the Mimi's Cafe brunch later. Sorry for the last minute change but I wanted to take advantage of the special offer while we could. The sculpture walk has also been changed. Both are TBD although the date says Dec. 1 (I had to put some sort of date). Thanks for understanding and hope you will join is this Sunday.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
