Jacksonville is nature’s gateway to Florida - everything we do or don’t do matters. Northeast Florida has a rich assemblage of conservation lands. Federal, state and local parks provide recreation, wildlife habitats and help protect water resources and WE are the guardians! Come out and meet Eric Draper, the Executive Director of Audubon Florida, as he discusses northeast Florida’s role in conservation. A question and answer session will follow.
A Florida native, Eric joined the staff of the National Audubon Society in 1995 as Senior Vice President for Policy. He refocused on Florida in 1999 as state Policy Director. In 2008, he was awarded National Audubon Society’s highest honor, the Charles H. Callison Award of professional distinction. In 2009, he was named one of the top 40 “influencers” in Florida politics by Campaigns & Elections’ Politics magazine. Eric lobbies the Florida Legislature and executive agencies and is recognized as a leading advocate for Everglades restoration, water resource protection and land conservation. Other current service includes chairing the Florida Forever Coalition, appointment to the EPA’s Environmental Finance Advisory Committee and seats on the boards of the Council for a Sustainable Florida and the Florida Ocean Alliance.
