Meet A Rapter: EagleWatch & Audubon Center for Birds of Prey, Starring Paige

Speaker: Matt Smith, Audubon Center for Birds of Prey

Guest Star: Paige, the Bald Eagle.

We are pleased to announce  EagleWatch at the November meeting of the Duval Audubon Society. Founded in 1979 in Maitland, FL, the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey has treated over 12,000 injured or orphaned birds of prey (raptors), releasing more than 40% of these former patients back into the wild.

Topics will include the status of the Bald Eagle in Florida, general eagle biology, eagle nesting behavior and habits, Bald Eagle management guidelines, and nest observation techniques and strategies.

Matt is a full time Audubon employee and is responsible for the EagleWatch program – a network of volunteer citizen scientists monitoring approximately 300 Bald Eagle nests throughout Florida. Matt is also a licensed falconer, having worked with Red-tailed Hawks, American Kestrels and Cooper’s Hawks.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
