Harris Neck NWR / Altamaha, Georgia Print Sunday, April[masked], 7:30am - 2:00pm

Leader: Laura Johannsen, h:[masked] c:[masked]

Harris Neck NWR has over 2800 acres of saltwater marsh, grassland, and deciduous woods.

We expect to find migrating warblers, sparrows, maybe a few ducks, breeding night herons, spoonbills, and other waders.

We will stay here most of the morning before moving south towards the Altamaha Wildlife Management area. This area is 30-40 minutes south on US17 near Darien, Georgia.

Join us for the morning or come late just to Altamaha.

Meeting Place & Directions: 07:30 a.m., McDonald’s at I-95 Georgia exit 67. Take I-95 north to exit #67 in Georgia (US17). It is approximately a 1-1.5 hour drive from Jacksonville, depending on where you live. Go east, right at the exit and the McDonald’s is immediately on the left with a Shell gas station.

If you run late you and want to meet us at the refuge; continue east/south on US17 and you will see signs for the refuge and “The Smallest Church in America” on your left. The refuge road is just past the church.
