So how was the weekend? It was 100 here in Danville, I can imagine it was pretty hot in the foothills. Everyone good, no injuries?

Bobby... Glad to see you had fun on Trail 6...or did you say Trail 6 is fun (there is a difference)

      June 9

  • David A

Bobby, Thank you for saving me about 6 times on trail 6. Don't know how I would have made it without you!! I really appreciate it!!!!

Foresthills is a great place to ride it has it all.

  • Bob W.

Forestville 1/2/3/4 are awesome trails - bermed on both sides
some of 5 and most of 6 are a bear, particularly in the heat (Thanks Bobby for all your help yesterday)
Campsite at Parker Flat works well for something like this
Sugar Pine Reservoir is very refreshing after a long, hot, dusty day.
    Will definitely be back!

Hi... Fire restrictions are in place but are allowed in designated areas.. as far as i can tell parker flat is one of those areas...

    • Jeremy K

Think we'll be ok since we are staying in designated camp sites

  • Tim M.

Let's take a roll call, to help Ron/Kranthi determine how many sites they need to stake out. From the conversation below, I've determined the following:
Ron Williams +1 (Arriving Thur afternoon)
    Kranthi +1 (Arriving Thur afternoon)
    Bobby Moniz (Arriving Fri morning)
Tim Murray +1 (Arriving Sat morning, maybe Fri night)
Bob Winn +1 (Arriving Sat morning)
Jeremy K (Arriving Sat morning, not camping)

Anybody else who is planning to go, reply with your planned arrival date/time.

    June 3

    • Jeremy K

Arriving Sat, riding Sat. Not camping, but back again to ride Sun morning.

      June 3

    • Tim M.

Ron: So far, it looks like space for 6 tents are needed. Each campsite can easily hold 3 to 4 tents, so you'll only need 2 (maybe 3) campsites. I'll try to call you this afternoon.

      June 4

  • Bob W.

    I assume camping-- which site?

    June 2

    • Bob W.

      Sounds good-- thanks

      June 3

If I remember correctly, there is no water at the Parker Flat campground. The forecast is calling for high 80s / low 90s, so bring plenty of water.

I was up at Foresthill last weekend for the first time. I rode the northern trails mostly. Nice forest, low speed weaving in between the trees...very nice scenery. Trail #4/shooting range area has been documented with a good amount of Ultramafic Rock (Asbestos). I avoid that one...many other trails to pick from. http://www.sierrafund.org/pdf/TrailsAssessmentREPORT.pdf

    ftp://ftp.consrv.ca.gov/pub/dmg/pubs/ofr/ofr_2000-019.pdf

Stayed at the Parker Flat Campground...small, few sites and a bunch of teenagers playing gangster rap until 1 am...nuts. Is it possible to camp at the reservoir and then just trailer up to the staging area? MUCH nicer down there...can go swimming... although you can not operate the motorcycles in that area.

    Thanks, Joe

I could come up for a ride on Sunday morning June 8, wondering if everyone might be sore from riding Fri & Sat?

Last year most everyone camped. The China Wall sites are of minimal amenities. Who is camping this trip?

Neither David nor I actually own camping gear so found it was more cost effective to motel it in Auburn and commute to 20-30 minutes to China Wall.

    May 13, 2014

    • David A

Ok, sounds like a small location change. Everyone should meet and camp at Parker Flat like last year.

      May 15, 2014

    • David A

We can ride in the China Wall area if open.

So is this the say goodbye to red sticker ride?

Bummer, the first date was my son's HS graduation party. The current date is my 4WD club's run to Slick Rock @ Lake Alpine. On the plus, It'll give my knee time to heal. Have fun! :-)

So much for going before it gets too hot. that's a month and a half away .

    1 · April 24, 2014

    • Jeremy K

Right!? At least we're 3 weeks earlier than last year. I think the delay is because David is doing Dating Palooza through that month of May and didn't want to dilute the Hungry Valley ride this month.
