I'm a new member of East Bay RUG, and really enjoyed the February meeting (the only one I've attended so far). My company has just launched the private beta of a new community site for Rubyists and Rails developers, and I wanted to invite all of you to take part in this crucial stage.
The beta key is: RUGged
acts_as_community is a place for Rubyists and Rails developers to gather and interact. Our hope is to bring the community closer
together in collaboration and communication so that everyone can benefit from others' experiences. We are designing this site from the ground up to be very developer/group-oriented and at the same time have enough fresh, relevant content so that people will find it to be a useful resource for their day-to-day work. The current list of features include events, forums, documents/video publishing, and blog integration. We just pushed out a release that adds code snippet support and job listings.
We built this site as a resource for Rubyists and Rails developers because we think there's a strong opportunity to form a tight-knit,
inclusive community that can provide a sort of "jumping off point" for all matters Ruby and Rails. And since it's all about bringing people together, we want to know what you think! We'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback at [address removed] or just post on the forums and let us know what you think!
New features will be added weekly, and we really want to make this site the best it can be for the community, so we hope you'll check back frequently.
