Was a simple daily deals checkout, so yes on purchase orders, no on returns or inventory tracking, other than generating unique redeem codes.  The checkout process seemed like most of the work, so handling the rest seems pretty manageable.

Kimball,

Did you implement purchase orders / returns / inventory tracking?  I think starting from scratch is fun but I lot of work.  Unless your business is very unique but I can't think of an example of a unique ecommerce app (except amazon).

I had a good experience building from scratch with ActiveMerchant.  Spree was a bit constraining from what I remember, but it's been a while.

Spree has a lot of potential and a clean code-base

I don't know who is the lion or the gazelle in this world, but as soon as the sun is up, you had better be running.
