Heck I saw a job description that said 5 years of rails experience 3 years ago.  That would eliminate DHH himself.

I thought the same thing when I read > 10 years of Ruby experience. Even the geekiest and bleeding edgiest of my friends were still only thinking about ruby in 2000 :)

Bala,

This description sounds pretty reasonable to me. Most of the folks
that I work with fit the bill.

Unrealistic is stuff like '7+ years of Ruby on Rails experience is a
strong plus' - I see nonsense like this all the time from CMMI
services firms that have taken on Rails work.

Best,
Sidu.
