Meeting Description: IBM Sharable Code: A Ruby internal DSL and online platform for
mashups development and management
Dr. E. Michael Maximilien, (aka "max") is a research staff member at
IBM's Almaden Services Research group in San Jose, California. He can
be reached through his Web site (www.maximilien.com) and
IBM Sharable Code is an online research service platform for
developing and sharing situational Web 2.0 applications and mashups.
The platform is based on an inventive domain-specific language (DSL)
that streamlines and principles the design and development of
applications consuming Web APIs and exposing such APIs. Parts of the
DSL and the resulting applications and mashups can be shared and
reused by members of the IBM Sharable Code community. Sharable Code
mashups can be deployed and tested online, downloaded as Ruby gems, or
remotely deployed to compute clouds such as Amazon EC2 and others.
Current direction of the Sharable Code platform is to allow the
mashups to also be deployed as Facebook or OpenSocial applications
thereby allowing the mashups to take advantage and blend into these
social utility platform.
In this I talk will give an overview of the platform's architecture as
well as the DSL language that constitute its centerpiece. I will also
demonstrate the platform with some simple examples.
