Re: [ruby-81] Senior Developer Position

So many companies spout off warm-fuzzy phrases to advertise how enlightened and egalitarian they are and usually that's all they are - phrases not backed by behaviour.

Charging $10,000 up-front to walk in the door is a good way to separate the wannabes from the real players. As the old saying goes, "money talks, bull**it walks."

Agreed. They also want someone to write triggers and stored routines in the database.  That's not rails.  Is it even an MVC paradigm at all?

"Your opinions, ideas, strategies, and potential will not be limited but embraced."

Except for all the major architectural and technology decisions.  According to this job spec, those have already been made.

Jacob:  Here's some sincere advice.  Learn something about the technology that you're recruiting for.  Otherwise, you will just waste peoples' time and piss them off.

Regards.
