World Book Night

Wondering if anyone might be interested in doing this. I wonder if the Herndon/Monroe Park & Ride would be a good place to hand out books. Or maybe even the bus stop at the RTC. The books are amazing and include at least one of our book club picks. They don't say what the deadline is to apply, but there is an application and it is by individual, but I don't think that would keep us from doing it together at the same place. http://www.us.worldbooknight.org/faqs

It was a great experience to be able to share books and the love of reading with others. I was surprised at how many people wouldn't take a book. I think next year we need to have clearer signage and prepare ahead to give at the location. But I feel good that we gave out all those books!

Daisy is not attending either. The books came with a short synopsis. I will be at Starbuck's by 6:45 and provide copies of the instructions I was given. Does someone have Dorothy's books?

I have Dorothy's books. I'll probably be there around 6:30.

Do we need permission to hand out books at this location, if we haven't gotten it already?

Dorothy or Sherry, if you need any additional assistance with prepping anything prior to the actual book night, please let me know. I'm happy to help out in any way I can.

For those who are new, in a nutshell, this is an event in which we will be passing out (predetermined) books to people in a public place. The idea is to promote reading throughout the world. Two members of our meetup were selected as distributors and are willing to share the fun. We have the books Looking for Alaska by John Green and Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. Join us at Cascades Starbucks before 7 (I'll probably show up around 6:30 to grab some coffee).

So far Katrina and Chris will be joining us. That sounds good, though.

It looks like we (I) missed the application deadline.if some of you made it and are participating, I'd be interested in joining you and getting coffee or drinks before/after.

I can't find a deadline for applying. I am also having trouble thinking of a really good place to give away. Do you have any ideas? Those particular bus stops might not be good for "light or non readers." Ideas?

Couldn't fine a deadline either, so I emailed them. Let's see, there are some big office parks around the area. Maybe we could hand out books in the parking lots? I'm going to think on this...

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
