Originally the stern sank in 75 feet of water off the Dog Bar Breakwater. Mountainous seas from the Blizzard of '78 pushed the stern to its present location. Although deeper, it is still the most popular wreck dive off Cape Ann.
The wreck sits upright on a sand/silt bottom. Sediment has built up around the fantail, completely covering the prop. Some of the interior spaces are also silting up including the engine room and rear storage area behind the galley. Penetration can be made into the cavernous opening where the ship broke in two, as well as the vessel's cargo and ballast tanks. Many local dive shops use this wreck for shipwreck certification and most of the area dive charter boats will take properly certified divers to the vessel.

Marine life has turned the tanker's hull into an artificial reef. A center line catwalk is festooned with anemones and other hydrozoans. Caution is advised due to the amount of monofilament and lobster lines that have snagged on the wreck.

This fantastic wreck is a great intro to wreck diving for fairly new divers and a time old classic for those with experience.

Dive 2

Mmmmmmmmmmm tasty tasty Scallops! At $20 a pound Scallops are expensive. Why not go for a dive and cherry pick them off the ocean floor, they don't come much fresher than that. We have a Scallop dive planned for the second dive of this 3 dive charter. Come and join us for a great dive and reap the sweet tasty rewards afterwards!

Dive 3

Lobsters, Lobsters, Lobsters!

The last dive of this 3 dive series is a lobster dive. Cpt. Fran will take you to one of his favorite lobstering spots to catch your final feast. What better way to end the day of diving than to hunt these tasty critters to add to your scallops for dinner!

The cost of the trip is $140 and an advanced certification is required. Nitrox fills are included from ECD (NITROX certification is required for Nitrox fills.)
